FAQ

  • Yes! I would love to come and provide professional development on-site! My in-person workshops include lots of interaction and hand-on learning opportunities that many teachers take directly back into their classrooms!

  • Absolutely! Long before the pandemic made online learning a necessity, I was providing active learning online to preservice and inservice educators. Incorporating best practices for adult learning into the virtual format keeps my presentations lively!

I also provide online workshops with follow-up discussion sessions via Zoom to help teachers deepen their understanding and consolidate their ideas, if desired.

  • I prefer to do at least half-day workshops when in-person, since this allows us to delve into the complex information about resilience, neuroscience, and toxic stress and still have plenty of time for interaction and playful learning activities. However, I also give presentations and keynotes that are shorter to meet your scheduling needs. Virtual sessions are usually shorter, as well.

  • I have years of experience teaching children, so understand well how important play and humor are! I also taught adults for decades and am sensitive to how valuable your time is, and to the importance of engagement and making personal connections, if educators are going to implement new ideas in the classroom.

I bring all of this into every presentation, along with a passion for sharing cutting-edge theory and research in a way that makes sense to everyone.

  • Decades of working with learners of all ages has convinced me that resilience is the “ordinary magic” everyone needs in order to be healthy and happy, whether they are facing adversity or not. Many strategies we use in early childhood can promote resilience, but when teachers are intentional about doing so, we can expect better outcomes for all.
